October 19, 2020 – Amherst, NH – Professional Software for Nurses, Inc. (PSNI), the country’s leading provider of school electronic health record (EHR) software, today announces a collaboration with PowerSchool, the leading provider of K-12 education application technology supporting over 45 million students in over 80 countries.

PSNI has been the leading provider of school nurse EHR systems for nearly 30 years, serving over 10,000 school nurses in 45 states and 25 countries. Designed by a school nurse, SNAP Health Center was augmented with pandemic tracking and reporting features during the H1N1 (swine flu) pandemic in 2009.  The screening features added to the SNAP Health Portal Version 1.5 allow parents and school staff to access COVID-19 screening functionality.  Administrator alerts, analytics, and reporting of this information are available in the SNAP Health Center Version 4.6.2 also part of this collaboration.

“PSNI and PowerSchool have had a remarkable collaboration for a decade,” said Peter Redes, PSNI CEO, “and we’re excited that these screening tools are available to PowerSchool parents and staff through our single sign-on (SSO) interface.  Many school districts are requiring parents to screen their children at home for COVID-19 symptoms and report the findings. The schools are also planning staff self-screening and reporting.  Using the SSO interface with PowerSchool, parents and staff of schools that use both SNAP Health Portal and PowerSchool can access these screening resources from PowerSchool without separate logins.”

In a recent survey of PSNI customers focused on school building re-opening, 42% reported that their districts will require daily student screenings with 41% undecided.  In the same survey, 50% will require daily staff screenings with 36% undecided.  In both cases, PSNI expects the majority of schools to ultimately decide to require daily screenings of both students and staff as more school buildings re-open around the country.

“It’s important to deliver timely, critical functionality to our customers in collaboration with ISV partners like PSNI,” said Alan Taylor, PowerSchool Senior Vice President, Corporate Development.  “PSNI’s systems have tracked screenings of all kinds for millions of students and the SSO interface between their SNAP Health Portal and PowerSchool will provide parents and staff easy access to those screening resources.”

With the speed of technological advancements today, there has never been a better time to form a collaboration among the market leaders within the industry.  From the front office to the classroom to the home, PowerSchool helps schools and districts efficiently manage instruction, learning, grading, attendance, assessment, analytics, state reporting, special education, student registration, talent, finance and HR.  And now, with this new collaboration with PSNI, health screening functionality can be added to that list.
