POINT PLEASANT, NJ – During their regular business meeting on Monday night, the Point Pleasant Board of Education honored four women who have been at the forefront of how the district handled the pandemic so far.
Cynthia Barry, the nurse at Point Pleasant High School, Deborah Ewtushek, the nurse at Memorial Middle School, Jill Lebret, the nurse at Nellie Bennett Elementary School and Christine Russell, the nurse at Ocean Road Elementary School, all received an Exemplary Service Award from the board for their work over this past school year.
“We wanted to start by honoring four individuals who have been instrumental this year helping us get our doors open in September and keep them open throughout the school year,” Vincent Smith, Superintendent of Schools, said at the start of the meeting, adding that they “have been the go-to for guidance since the start of the pandemic.”
“Without them, the reopening of school would not have been possible,” Smith said.
